About Thouiller

What is there to write about a small hamlet somewhere in the country side. As everyone knows the main requirement to become a hamlet is the hard demand that nothing ever happens. And we qualify!!! with ease.

Windmill park Thouiller

It is so boring on Thouiller that even the windmills (which are in the Haut Vienne, so nothing to do with us, except that the windmill park is named after the hamlet) will turn in one direction. Clockwise, except when you are standing behind them 😉

So do I feel locked-up? Not at all. I love the French countryside. Quiet, beautiful and for me relaxing.

There are 8,5 houses and a farm on Thouiller. The farm is just a working location for a huge farmer. 8,5 is an odd number, but 8 houses are renovated, and one is still empty and needs get a new chance. Of these 8 houses, 5 are permanently lived in. 3 are holiday homes. There is one road leading to a main road 1,5Km away. At the end of the hamlet the road transfers to a path, used by the farmer, the deer and by me, when I walk the dogs. If there are 4 cars a day passing by we talk about a busy day.

Main languages are English, Dutch, and soon French as well. I never checked if Leo speaks Irish, but there might be a fourth language.
